Cap Options

Stainless or Galvanized — We'll Tell You Which

Stainless Steel

Longest lasting, won't rust, and looks clean. Best choice for most residential applications. Costs a bit more upfront, but outlasts galvanized by years.

Galvanized Steel

Cost-effective and durable. Works well in lower-exposure situations. Some surface rust is normal over time, but it's functional for many years.

Single-Flue

Fits one flue opening. Most common for residential chimneys with a single fireplace or appliance.

Multi-Flue (Top-Mount)

Covers the full top of the chimney across multiple flue openings. Clean look, one installation.

What a Cap Actually Does

A chimney cap sits over the flue opening and does several jobs at once: keeps rain from pouring directly down the flue, blocks birds and squirrels from nesting inside, catches spark embers before they land on your roof, and prevents debris from clogging the flue. When the cap is missing or damaged, all of that protection disappears.

In Western Washington, where we see 38+ inches of rain a year, an uncapped chimney actively collects water season after season. That moisture attacks your liner, rusts your damper, and degrades the masonry from the inside out. A properly fitted cap is cheap insurance against all of it.
